Shitzu with Struvite urinating in the house again after 12 years.

Our Shitzu, who is 12, is urinating in the house again after not doing so for years and years. Could the Struvite be causing this? Any thoughts on how to get him to stop. We haven't treated the Struvite yet, just got the diagnosis 2 days ago. The Vet says diet. Wants to give us Royal Canin at 64 dollars a bag and $3.50 a can. Hoping to find some good recipes to make my own and give him and his companion shitzu all necessary ingredients for a good life. Corn allergies on these two pups like mad. Companion Shitzu is 9. Very sweet dogs.
