Dog Cake Recipes

Easy dog cake recipes, like this one, can be clever and creative.

Dogs should not be given chocolate. Dog bakers use carob to simulate the look of chocolate. Carob is a natural bean that is sweeter than chocolate.

Carob has about twice as many calories as the same amount of chocolate. It has no fat and no cholesterol.

Peanut butter powder, as called for in this recipe, is a healthier alternative to peanut butter. You can use store peanut butter, but make sure it is unsweetened and natural. The dog won't miss the added sugar that humans like.

Put peanut butter and carob together and you get something that is similar to a Reese's peanut butter dog treat.

Peanut Butter Tuxedo Cake

What you need:

• 1 package carob cake mix
• 1/4 cup vegetable oil
• 1 egg
• 1/2 cup water
• 1/2 cup peanut butter powder
• Carob dog treat frosting
• Peanut butter dog treat frosting
• Pre-greased baking pan
• Mixing bowl

Instructions:

• Pre-heat over to 350 degrees.
• In mixing bowl, combine carob cake mix, oil, egg, water and peanut butter powder.
• Mix well.
• Pour into baking pan.
• Bake 18-22 minutes. A toothpick inserted into cake should come out clean.
• Let cake cool at least 1 hour.
• When cool, frost cake all over with carob dog treat frosting.
• Decorate with stripes of peanut butter frosting two inches apart on top of the carob frosting.
• Take a toothpick and draw lines through the frosting to create an interesting effect.

If you want the carob dog treat icing darker, all you have to do is add in some brown powdered color and it will look like rich chocolate!
