Depends on type of crystals

Hi Steff.

First of all, we are not veterinarians. We highly recommend you consult your vet before changing your dog's diet.

If your dog has struvite crystals, foods that lead to an acidic urine are reported to help keep the crystals dissolved. Such foods would include cranberry juice, flour and oats. Foods creating an alkaline urine would serve to keep the crystals in formation.

Unfortunately, calcium oxalate crystals and stones do not readily dissolve and often lead to surgery for removal of the larger ones. Dietary management is not as easy.
